Canine Assisted Therapy
Doggie FLASH MOB!
Join us for the first ever Canine Assisted Therapy Doggie FLASH MOB! This event is to raise awareness for Canine Assisted Therapy and all therapy dogs. It is also to make people aware of the potential that rescues have to give back to the community by becoming therapy dogs.

Who can participate?:
  • Any handler with a dog that is people friendly and dog friendly and is trained using positive reinforcement.

Then, join us for group practices:
  • Locations, dates and times for the practices will be announced but you must RSVP.
If you plan to participate, RSVP to:
  • flashmob@catdogs.org or 954-990-5175. We will need your name and email address.

  • RSVPs are important to get a head count and to contact you with more details.
Additional Info:
  • All dogs must be ON LEASH. Leashes should be no more than 6 feet long. NO PRONG COLLARS OR RETRACTABLE LEASHES ALLOWED! Dogs on retractable leashes or with prong collars will not be allowed to participate.

  • By participating in this event, you agree that your dog is your responsibility. Canine Assisted Therapy, Alpha Dog Academy and Star Dog Training will not be held liable for anyone else's actions.
 
  • There will be many dogs present so you will want to bring the "high value" treats (if you need them) to keep your dog interested in you. High value treats are things like freeze dried liver and hot dogs.

  • Our goal is to show that rescues are capable of becoming therapy dogs and giving back to the community and to raise awareness for C.A.T. Please wear a PURPLE shirt or jacket. If your dog is a therapy dog with C.A.T. or another organization, please be sure the dog wears their organization's vest or bandana. If your dog is a rescue, we will provide a sign for your dog that says, "Someone took a chance on me."

DANCE INSTRUCTIONS:
Steps:
When the music starts, begin walking single file leaving plenty of room between you and the team in front of you. We will form a large "oval". There will be a verbal cue to start the count at step 1.
All moves are done to an 8 count.
1. WALK FORWARD - 2,3,4,5,6,7,8
2. WALK FORWARD- 2,3,4,5,6,7,8
3. STOP, TURN LEFT TO FACE CENTER, SIT - Step in front of your dog so you face him/her. (Dogs should be facing the center of the oval and your back should be to the inside of the oval.)
4. STAY - Walk around dog to the LEFT - CLOCKWISE
5. SHAKE - Right
6. SHAKE - Left  
7. STAY - Walk around your dog to the RIGHT - COUNTER-CLOCKWISE stopping when your dog is on your left in the heal position. Turn to face right and begin to walk forward starting again with step 1.
End the dance by doing showing your own tricks. The important part of the Doggy Flash Mob is to HAVE FUN!
