Our C.A.T. Dogs Make a Difference at Ann Storck Center!

We mourn the loss of a wonderful C.A.T. Dog

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Earl, Certified C.A.T. Dog, crossed over Rainbow Bridge. Earl was a wonderful and fun loving dog that brought a tremendous amount of joy to everyone that he met. Earl encouraged laughter and fun when he entered a room. His favorite thing to do was to sit on the sofa, legs crossed, and socialize with the residents of the facilities that he visited.

Earl will be sorely missed and our heart goes out to his owners Helene and Sharon.

Pet First And CPR: Learning it may save your dog's life!

You are your pet's first responder!

According to the American Animal Hospital Association 25% more pets would survive if just one first aid technique was applied prior to receiving emergency veterinary care.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is the most important first aid technique that every pet owner should be comfortable with. Chances are that you will never have to use it, but it will save your pet's life if a foreign object gets lodged in his airway.

Canine Assisted Therapy and Dr. Rudd Nelson, DVM have been providing pet first aid and CPR seminars for the past year.  To date, there have been 5 animals saved because the owners attended one of these classes. We were fortunate enough to hear first hand a very touching story about Magnolia who was saved because her owner attended our C.A.T. pet first aid and CPR course.  It is our pleasure to share this wonderful story with you.  We hope that it will help everyone understand the importance of learning pet first aid and CPR.

Traveling With Your Pet by Automobile

Finally, the summer heat is beginning to wane and there is a hint of coolness in the air. Fall is a great time to load the family in the car (including the family pet) and take off to enjoy the scenery. Here are some great tips for bringing your pet on your trip so that everyone will have a safe and happy trip.

If your pet is not accustomed to traveling in the car, take several short trips several weeks ahead of your travel. Go someplace fun like a dog park so your pet will associate car travel with a positive experience. Read More
